Men and Blue Jeans

So after a much needed ladies luncheon with one of my best friends the other day, I have been giving a lot of serious thought to my future. My friend gave me some great advice...

...She says "a man is like a new pair of jeans"... You find them. You love the way they look. You take them home to wear. But no matter how well you think you know them, and have their pattern down...you wash them, dry them, and stretch them out, and repeat the process....therefore, they are constantly changing. After a few disappointing weeks or months, you realize that either A) You gained weight causing them not to fit, B) They shrunk in the dryer causing them to fit uncomfortably, or C) You wore them out so much that the best thing to do with them would be to toss them out with the old news.

Basically what I learned is that you can never EVER truely know anyone, because times and lives are constantly changing. One day, you can have uncontrollable "butterflies and good feelings" and wear a smile across your face that feels like it might never fade...

...Then the next day, you can have the worst gut wrenching, knotted stomach with a tear stained face because you just simply don't fit where you want to be in their life the way you thought.

OR you could completely miss the point and take it as there are many different pairs of jeans (men) out there, so why settle for a pair that just look and fit okay?

I thought that my greatest fear was feeling rejected again. I thought that I could never trust anyone again. But I was wrong...and I found somebody else. And even though things with that person fell through, I know I'll find another comfortable pair of jeans that look GREAT on me again someday...and this pair will never disappoint me in such a great way.

"In order to really and truely love someone else...you must learn to love and respect yourself first."

"I have felt the best of the best emotions, and the worst of the worst. However, I have never walked away from a love without learning something valuable."

"If Prince Charming walked up to me today and asked for my hand, I would politely decline... because I would be the envy of every woman alive if I accepted. And I don't need that. What I do need...is to make a man the envy of every other man alive. And trust that I will not quit until I succeed, because I am beyond fabulous. It's time that someone else recognizes that."

My new challenge for myself is to become completely ignorant of anything that can go wrong in a relationship. To love long, to love strong, and to love hard...fearlessly. To listen with a patient ear, and speak with a patient tongue. To let God guide me into whoever's life is lucky enough to have me.
